InGrooves/ONE Digital’s Jason Kadelc On Fanning The Promotional Fire
We’re working on a series on innovative digital distributors like TuneCore and INgrooves/ONE Digital. Just to give you a taste of some of the great stuff coming up, here is this excerpt from an interview with INgrooves/ONE Digital’s Director Of Business Development Jason Kadlec:
"An artist, project, etc. is like a log. It represents the potential for fire."
"Fire represents ‘success’ – converting the potential into energy in the form of fans, revenue etc. We often say that an artist is “on fire” or a single is “blowing up” if they are gaining fans/traction."
"Marketing is the gasoline – it takes the fire and makes it exponentially bigger – and if done right, will leave a better fire going when the gas is used up."
"However, if you just throw a lot of gasoline on a log that only has a little flame or is not burning at all, you just get a cold soggy log. Artists and labels who have some hustle, who bring some fire of their own succeed best. Companies like INgrooves add the gas and make it blow up."
