A Look At Joan Jett’s D.I.Y. Career
When rocker Joan Jett began her solo career she was
turned down by every major record label at a time when there were two dozen of
them. So long before D.I.Y. was cool, Jett and business/songwriting partner and producer Kenny Laguna set
out to form their own record company, manufacturing albums and selling them out
of the trunk of Kenny’s 1976 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. The Caddy also served as a
touring vehicle for the band and the first ‘office’ of their company Blackheart Records. A new short film
takes a look at this journey.
