OK GO, A Bathroom, You Tube & Viral Marketing

Soon our entire lives will be televised. Much has been made in the blogosphere of OK GO’s clever use of new media and viral marketing. Rightfully so, as witnessed by the band’s low budget treadmill dance video which has been viewed more than 5 million times on YouTube alone. It lead to an MTV Video Awards appearance and an immense amount of buzz and media attention.  As of yesterday the the track had jumped back up to #2 at the iTunes download store.

Taking the process one step further OK Go took a camera with them to to the MTV pre-parties and in another one camera shoot cornered JC Chasez in a men’s room asking him for TV dance advise. The video has now been viewed 184,000 times on YouTube.
