Labor Day Weekend Actvities List For The New Music Industry
Has holiday weekend boredom set in yet? Just in case, here are a few things to help you stay cool, current and caught up with what’s up in the new music industry:
- WIRED takes an in depth look at the music industry with pieces on Pitchfork, Nettwerk’s Terry McBride, Beck on making music in the post-album era, eMusic, re-inventing cover art and more. (here)
- Wired Editor Chris Andersen’s new book The Long Tail is making some noise. Think about going old school and buy a copy or you can be lazy and read the original article that led to the book contract. Then at least you can fake it at cocktail parties.
- Pitchfork’s Mark Richardson writes the longest columns about personal and obscure topics and somehow they are very…readable. This one is on how he learned to love "real" music. (Pitchfork)
- – It’s not exactly reading but it is music-related for sure: You could spend your long weekend unlocking all those iTunes songs you foolishly bought with this newly released hack (here)…not that we or our lawyers are recommending it.
- Take a minute and vote in Hypebot’s SpiralFrog poll. (see left column).
- Waste almost 8 minutes of your life watching this propaganda video that’s being distributed on college campuses by the RIAA to see why it’s drawing for inaccuracies.(cNet)
