EMI’s Fan-Centric Marketing For Janet Jackson & Robbie Williams
Janet Jackson is asking her fans to design her new CD cover via a contest on Yahoo! Music. Four winners determined by Jackson will see their designs grace the cover of Janet’s new album "20 Years Old" when the CD hits stores on September 26th.
Beginning today at 12 noon PST, for one week, 33 images of Jackson will be posted on Yahoo! Music. where fans can download and “remix” photographs to create their own version of the new album’s cover. Designs submitted to Yahoo! will each be assigned a link that users can send to friends.
The competition is part of the plan to build anticipation for the release of "20 Years Old" which marks the anniversary of her career-making 1986 album, "Control". Now Jackson has re-teamed with her original collaborators, Jimmy “Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis for what she has described as a celebration of what was going on musically back in the day when "Control" was released.
An UK crooner Robbie Williams is partnering with T-Mobile to offer fans front-row access to his sold out Close Encounters European tour via their cell phones. As part of the promo T-Mobile will create RW Tour TV on a dedicated MobileTV channel providing exclusive concert and backstage footage and live video streaming of the entire concerts in select markets.
This is very interesting. I have been looking for opportunities like this for a long time. The convergence of a specialized role in tech/digital & music is becoming more and more critical for the music biz.
Question. Where do you find these positions?? I know they are rare, but so is the candidate pool.
