Google Hack G2P Offers MP3 Download Search
A new Google hack called G2P tests legal limits by using Google’s search engine technology to find often illegal mp3’s ready to be downloaded for free. Just type in an artist or song title at independent site G2P.org and it takes you to an official Google search page with results ready for downloading.
It will be interesting to watch how the RIAA, Google, and the general public responds to this hard to trace but still illegal activity and how the courts interpret it. In the Grokster decision P2P’s were held liable because they encouraged and enabled illegal downloading. But with search technology providing convenience and an extra layer of anonymity. it’s how not to imagine that the service won’t be heavily used.
dude, that’s just advance google search with pretty buttons.
People have been doing this for a long time by entering few google search parameters.
It’s just that now it got button and pretty graphic, even dumb record company exect can use it and finally get it what is the true extent of information flow.
No Built to Spill, no Naama Hillman, in fact it can only find Metallica songs!
there are several ‘built to spill’. Well I gues that pretty little page if pretty useless. Compare to old style input.
There is no N.hilman tho.
You can try this simple file and unprotected directory search engine (mp3 too), it is based on google co-op:
http://searchable.awardspace.com
To find mp3, as does G2P, you can use a simple OpenSearch plugin for Firefox and IE7. It adds special parameters to your request for Google. You can install it from http://mp3mirror.com/shared.html
(Just click on `search plugin` in the bottom of page)
