US CD Sales Inch Slightly Upward
According to Digital Music News, "CD sales moved upward this week in the US, an encouraging sign ahead of the holidays. Most recently, total weekly albums sales moved to 10.8 million units, an increase of nearly one percent over the comparable period last year, and a 4.5 percent jump over the previous week. The latest figures bring the year-to-date total to 447 million units, a deficit of 9.8 percent over comparable tallies last year. While that may seem like a heavy gap, the gulf was actually greater than 10 percent earlier this month. Several artists helped to power the increase, including Ashlee Simpson, Rod Stewart, Martina McBride, Nickelback, and Stevie Wonder."
