Colleges Punishing Downloader
From Music Biz.com “it’s now being reported that almost all Kentucky colleges are yanking Internet access from copyright violators. Repeated violations can invoke a permanent ban. Morehead State, for instance, demands that students complete counseling before going back online, and charges of up to $200 apiece for student violators to reconnect to the university network. At Eastern Kentucky University, violators are referred to the student court before Internet privileges are returned. Penalties can range from a reprimand and fine to expulsion. Plus, more schools are working with businesses that sell music, such as Napster and iTunes.”
