NIVA extends deadline for landmark State Of Live survey
NIVA has extended the deadline to March 5 for the State of Live Survey, the first ever independent economic study of the U.S. independent live sector.

Indie venues, promoters, festivals and touring artists are struggling under the weight of increased corporate competition and rising costs. But while good data exists in the UK and Australia, only empirical evidence has backed truth that anyone involved music in the U.S. knows – it’s harder than ever to turn even a tiny profit in live music.
State Of Live survey findings, which will be revealed at the NIVA conference this summer, will help NIVA and local venues advocate for funding, support favorable local and state legislation, and strengthen their collective voice to ensure independent live entertainment is recognized and supported at all levels.
As A Reminder:
- State of Live Responses Are Confidential: Your organization’s information will be kept strictly confidential and used only to help us understand the current state of the live entertainment industry.
- Participants are Eligible for a 20% NIVA ’25 Badge Discount: As a thank you for your support, you can access this discount when you complete the survey. Discount codes are sent to the email that completes the survey once a week.
- Not Every Question is Required: If a question does not apply to you or you don’t feel comfortable answering it, feel free to skip that question and submit the survey as usual.
All independent live event entities regardless of size, tax-status, or location are urged to take part in the State of Live survey now through March 5 2025 here.
