VANCOUVER (CelebrityAccess) — After nearly two years, Taylor Swift has concluded her record-breaking Eras tour with three final performances in Vancouver, marking the end of what has become the most successful tour in history.
The 149th and final show took place on Sunday at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium, closing a tour that grossed over $2.077 billion in ticket sales, according to The New York Times.
This staggering box office figure places the tour far ahead of other major tours, including Coldplay’s ongoing 156-date Music of the Spheres World Tour, which has already generated more than $1 billion, according to Billboard.
Swift’s record-setting revenue was fueled by every show being fully sold out, with some fans traveling significant distances to attend. Swift’s touring company told The Times that a total of 10,168,008 people attended Eras performances, including 753,112 fans across eight sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The tour was not without controversy. Live Nation faced backlash after Ticketmaster’s platform experienced technical issues during the initial ticket sale, leading to outraged fans and a congressional inquiry. Additionally, the tour narrowly avoided disaster when an alleged bomb plot targeting shows in Vienna was thwarted at the last moment, resulting in the cancellation of those performances.
During a recent show in Toronto, Swift took time to thank her cast, crew, and fans for their contributions to the historic tour.
“My band, my crew, all my fellow performers—we have put so much of our lives into this, and you’ve put so much of your lives into being with us tonight and giving us this moment we will never forget,” she said.
