Fans and particularly superfans can’t get enough of their favorite artists. But how do you get closer to fans with Spotify and keep up with all the content creation needed to keep them interested?

Spotify has built tools that help. Here are four must-use Spotify For Artists features to help artists get closer to their fans.

How To Get Closer to Fans with Spotify For Artists

Get closer to fans with Spotify

Countdown Pages

Countdown Pages enable fans to pre-save music before the release, preview the tracklist, watch Clips, and buy merch via the artist profile, Now Playing view, Search, and Home.

After a fan pre-saves an album, they get a push notification on release day so that you know it’s been added to their Library.

Artists with over 5000 monthly listeners in the previous 28 days create free Spotify Countdown Pages in their Spotify for Artists account. They are available to Free and Premium subscribers in all Spotify markets.

Live Events feed

Spotify’s Live Events feed makes concert discovery easier. Fans can find concert listings from Bandsintown and select primary ticketing companies based on location and top artists or browse upcoming concerts in other cities and countries personalized to the their taste.

Independent artists and venues should keep their show updated on Bandsintown which then shares them with Spotify, Apple, Shazam, Google and other platforms. Spotify’s Live Events Feeds are available to both Free and Premium subscribers in all Spotify markets.

Clips from artists

Clips from artists are short vertical videos that let fans learn more about things like unreleased tracks, the story behind a new song, live performances, and more.

All Clips are tagged to tracks so that fans can easily follow, save, and stream music right from the video. Fans can watch Clips on Home, the Now Playing view, Countdown Pages, release pages, and more.

Artists’ Clips are available to all artists and to Free and Premium subscribers in 78 markets.

Listening Parties

Listening Parties are the live audio experience where fans join their favorite artists and other top fans to celebrate new releases. Fans often hear behind-the-scenes stories, chat in real time with other fans, and listen to music with the artist who made it.

This year, Spotify hosted listening parties with artists including Peso PlumaBleachersGracie Abrams, and SEVENTEEN.

Listening Parties are not available to all artist and only available to Premium subscribers in the U.S., ID, MX, and CA.

Bruce Houghton is the Founder and Editor of Hypebot, a Senior Advisor at Bandsintown, President of the Skyline Artists Agency, and a Berklee College Of Music professor.
