Travis Scott, Live Nation, Astroworld Festival organizers issue statements
Travis Scott, promoter Live Nation, and the organizers of the Astroworld Festival have issued separate statements following this weekend’s deadly tragedy.
“Heartbroken for those lost and impacted at Astroworld last night. We will continue working to provide as much information and assistance as possible to the local authorities as they investigate the situation,” promoter and ticket-seller Live Nation said in a statement Monday.
Live Nation stock fell Monday as investors reacted to news that at least 8 had died and hundreds were injured during Travis Scott’s set at this weekend’s 50,000 person Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas.
Legal experts expect “hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars” in lawsuits.
Astroworld Festival organizers posted:
“Our hearts are with the Astroworld Festival family tonight – especially those we lost and their loved ones.”
“We are focused on supporting local officials however we can. With that in mind, the festival will no longer be held on Saturday.”
“As authorities mentioned in their press conference earlier, they are looking into the series of cardiac arrests that took place. If you have any relevant information on this. Please reach out to @HoustonPolice.”
“Thank you to our partners at the Houston Police Department, Fire Department, And NRG Park for their response and support.”
NRG Park, the site of Astroworld Festival, released this over the weekend.
“We are deeply saddened by the heartbreaking loss of life and the pain experienced by all those impacted by this tragedy. We are fully cooperating and working closely with police and local authorities as they investigate how this tragedy occurred at the Astroworld Festival.”
The most emotional statement came from headliner Travis Scott.
“I’m honestly just devastated,” said Scott, rubbing his forehead. “We’re actually working right now to identify the families so we can help assist them through this tough time.”
Answering criticism that he was not aware of how bad things were during his set, Scott said, “Any time I could make out, you know, anything that’s going on, you know, I just stopped my show and, you know, helped them get the help they need.”
