Lou Pearlman and ‘The Boy Band Con’ – A Look Inside One Of The Music’s Darkest Corners [VIDEO]

image from celebrityaccess.comA new  looks into a dark corner of the music industry and  he late boy band producer Lou Pearlman. The documentary, ‘The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story’ which premiered at SXSW this week, was produced for YouTube Originals by Lance Bass, a singer in one of Pearlman’s most successful projects N’Sync.

The film follows Pearlman, from his childhood in Queens, through launching groups *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, and chronicles his later life, including his perpetration of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in American history.

A trailer for the film was released via YouTube and features interviews with former members of his bands such as the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync who allege financial misconduct against Pearlman.

Interviewees include Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC), AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), Aaron Carter and Ashley Parker Angel (OTown).

However, the trailer did not touch on the allegations of sexual misconduct that surrounded Pearlman before he was convicted in 2008 of bilking 1,700 people out of $500 million in a concert investment Ponzi scheme.

Pearlman died in prison in 2016.
