OFFICIAL: FCC Killed The Internet, Innovation Today
[UPDATE 3] The FCC voted 3-2 along party lines on Thursday to end to net neutrality, which effectively gives control of the internet to the major internet service providers and cable companies. While it unlikely that we will see an immediate change in how select content is delivered over the net, it will come, as the ISPs inevitably bow to shareholders seeking greater profits. What does this have to do with music?
D.I.Y. artists, indie labels, new music technologies and independent media will be unable to compete on an internet that has fast lanes and slows lanes. Put simply, the fight to save net neutrality is essential to the future of music creation, distribution and discovery.
Proves tech companies control content on the internet.
Now, tech companies will be distrupted. It’s about time.
