DistroKid Is First Distributor To Let Any Artist Upload Synced Lyrics

DistroKid has become the first self-service music distributor to let any artist automatically create and upload synced lyrics.

Karaoke-style synched lyrics that allow listeners to follow and sing along are offered on Apple Music and Instagram.

“We made a syncing interface that’s super easy. Just listen to your song and tap the spacebar (or screen on mobile) every time there’s a lyric, and that’s it,” says DistroKid founder Philip Kaplan, “your synced lyrics are uploaded to Instagram, Apple, and more.”

DistroKid is powering the new service for its clients in part with tech from Musixmatch, which interfaces with Facebook and Instagram’s lyric ingestors.
