Instagram To Hide Likes, Nicki Minaj Blames Labels Out To Hurt Indie Artists
Instagram will start hiding likes in the US as early as this week and Niki Minaj is not happy.
The test began Canada and was followed by Ireland, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.
“I’m not posting on IG after this week cuz they removing the likes,” said Minaj. “Hmmmm what should I get into now? Think of all the time I’ll have with my new life.”
Minaj went on to argue that the move will damage influencers and appeared to accuse the major record labels of working with Instagram to retain control over a music industry that increasingly favors independent artists.
Instagram previously said it wants to see how users react when more emphasis is placed on content rather than how many likes a post gets.
Cardi B also weighed in.
