Spotify Exec Shane Tobin Exits For Sofar Sounds
Spotify Head of Partnerships for Content & Creator, Shane Tobin, is leaving the streamer to become Sofar Sounds VP of Partnerships and Entertainment Relations, Hypebot has confirmed. Sofar Sounds recently announced $25 million in new funding led by Battery Ventures and Union Square Venture.
Three months ago, former Spotify and The Echo Nest executive Jim Lucchese was named Sofar CEO. Tobin worked with Lucchese at both companies. His last day at Spotify is Friday.
From 2011 to 2014, Tobin served as Director of Business Development at The Echo Nest. After Spotify's acquisition of the music intelligence and data platform, he transitioned to a Business Development role at the streamer. Serving in several related roles of the last five and a half years at Spotify, Tobin was promoted to his current job two years ago.
UK based Sofar Sounds has built a global network of house concerts and other intimate live music venues in more than 430 cities. Sofar currently averages 600 shows per month, and to date 25,000 artists have played shows for the company.
