Spotify Adds Songs Sharing To Facebook Stories (And Why You Need To Use It)

Spotify new Facebook-musicWhen users share a track from Spotify to Facebook Stories, viewers will now hear a 15-second preview before tapping to listen. Hinting at future expansion of the feature, Spotify added that Facebook Story sharing does not extend to albums and playlists "for now."

When sharing full albums, playlists or a profile, viewers can still click directly into that content on Spotify, but they won’t hear a preview.

How To & Why You Need To Use This Feature

Artists and their teams often use the Spotify “Share” menu to promote tracks, albums, playlists and podcasts.

To get started, tap “Share” when viewing the track on Spotify, select Facebook, customize your Story, and post it to fans. When viewers watch the Story, they’ll be able to listen to a 15-second preview of it — instantly — and can then tap “Play on Spotify” to hear more.  The previews are generated from the Spotify Web API.

"Taking advantage of our sharing features helps to get your tunes to more people’s ears," says Spotify. "It will also encourage your fans to interact with you and your music and help spread the love through their own Facebook Stories. Try it out for your next release or a special anniversary, or to simply step up your daily storytelling – because every story, even a 15-second one, deserves a proper soundtrack."
