CIRCUIT COURT DENIES FILM & MUSIC BIZ BLOW IN P2P CASE
The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that, “the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dealt a legal blow to movie studios and music companies today when it ruled that Internet peer-to-peerfile-sharing services Grokster Ltd., Streamcast Networks Inc. and Sharman Networks Ltd. are not liable for copyright infringement occurring among service subscribers. The judges noted that the software firms provided software for individual users to share information over the Internet, regardless of whether that shared information was copyrighted.”
