deviantART Builds Powerful Online Art Community
Many web sites have tried to serve as online community centers for musicians and music lovers, but none has done for music what deviantART appears to be doing for progressive art. deviantART.com claims to be home to the largest online community of artists in the world and a leading force in the digital delivery of art.
deviantART currently hosts more than 11 million pieces of art of all varieties — from anime to photography and fantasy art to flash exhibits. It is the premiere place for artists across the globe to share and sell their art. The site provides a dedicated viewing audience, with more than 1.5 million members and 13 million pageviews a day.
As the Houston Chronicle noted, deviantART.com is “no mere online gallery. It’s an elaborate social network.” And that is why deviantART has thrived unlike other websites created during the dot com crash of 2000. 30,000 new pieces of art uploaded every day and often there are nearly 300,000 responses within 24 hours.
The same folks are also sponsoring the upcoming deviantART Summit in LA.
Wouldn’t they be wise to add a music componant to their offerings?
