DIGITAL DOWNLOADS SET TO DOUBLE IN 2005

According to Digital Music News and other sources, "…Nielsen Soundscan (is) reporting over 159 million transactions since January… Last year, consumers downloaded nearly 140 million tracks, a humble beginning that will likely be dwarfed by year-end figures in 2005. Meanwhile, downloads are starting to account for a bigger piece of the overall revenue pie, with Nielsen reporting a 6 percent chunk. That percentage will likely increase this year, especially if CD sales continue to decline…"
