Broadband Leads To Less TV But Could It Mean More Music?
According to the HollywoodReporter.com "Broadband Internet surfers in North America watch two fewer hours of television per week than do those without Internet access, while those using a dial-up connection watch 1.5 fewer hours of TV. The data comes from a Forrester Research study released Tuesday…Forrester also predicts that the number of broadband households in the U.S., which already soared from 2.6 million in 1999 to 31 million at the end of last year, will swell to 71.4 million by 2010."
This means ever increasing opportunities online for music marketers smart enough to target their efforts. It may also mean that computer users listen to less music because of broadband, but we know many people that listen to music (streaming or CD’s) while surfing and wonder if broadband use actually increases music listening hours.
