New Portable Music Player Stats Show Strong Growth
Ø Portable MP3 players reached a 20% penetration rate with the U.S. online population as of May 2005, and they are on target to become a mainstream product by the end of this year.
Ø Portable DVD players also achieved a 22% adoption rate among the U.S. online population.
Ø Mobile phones lead all portable devices in market adoption, reaching 78% among the U.S. online population, and intention to purchase a mobile phone in the next 12 months is also at the top of the chart at 24% of all U.S. Internet households.
Ø 40% of the portable multimedia player (PMP) owners are in the age group 35-44, followed people 18-24, at 22%.
Ø 74% of the PMP owners also possess at least one portable DVD player, 66% have a portable game player, and 59% have at least one portable MP3 player.
