This Week’s Music Industry Hits & Misses
– Ted Cohen for leaving the corporate confines of EMI and striking out on his own. The motivation may or may not also be money, but the result is probably going to be more innovation across the music space as his fertile mind roams unfettered. (more)
– Bonnaroo for going green. Anyone whose ever stayed to the last note is played at a music festival has seen the waste left in it’s aftermath. The Bonnaroo boys have decided to do something about it and gone farther looking at all of the energy and resources used to stage the event. (more)
– Sony BMG. Sure Don Ienner and Michele Antony were two old school record folks had to go, but what took you so long? Even as EMI, WMG, and Universal funded music industry 2.0 experiments Sony BMG seems to be acting if nothing has changed accept smaller bottom lines. And hiring your brother as a replacement? (more)
– Ziggy Marley for giving Target the retail exclusive on his new CD. Worse yet he evoked his Father’s memory to justify the move. Garth Brooks belongs at War-Mart. Ziggy seems trying to prove he belongs in the cut-out bin. (more)
