Hypebot Celebrates Its 5th Anniversary

5

Way back in the summer of 2004 I began sharing what I was learning about the evolving music industry first with our stakeholders at Skyline Music and then gradually with a wider audience.  Five years later, Hypebot has grown into the most read blog chronicling the digital music space and new music business.

Along the way, I've tried to strike a balance between news and commentary, as well as, between industry announcements and actionable advice.  I am honored that some have grown to see Hypebot as a filter and guide.  A few interesting numbers from 2004 to today:

  • I've published 5,701 posts
  • You've left 6599 comments
  • 7718 people read Hypebot via RSS
  • Another 1489 read via a daily email
  • 3448 follow on Twitter
  • 35,653 more unique visitors visited the site directly last month viewing an average of just 18,413 posts each week
  • 1.63 Million page views since launch

  1. Congrats! There aren’t many people who continue to have interesting things to say after five weeks, let alone five years. Keep the great info coming!
    Very best,
    Rick

  2. Congrats Bruce! I wanna be like you when I grow up…Thanks for the inspiration and daily news about the music business. You continue to keep u all informed.
    Best,
    Kevin

  3. Congratulations, Bruce and well done! Hypebot is my first read every day and first on my list of suggested blogs to my music industry friends.
I look forward to lots more Hypebot in the future.

  4. Congrats Bruce! I’m like Bobby above. I’ve learned to lean on Hypebot for my daily digital music fix. If I go a couple days without reading, I have to dig through my RSS feed to find the things I may have missed.
In an ever-evolving space, you have remained one of the constants. Thanks for taking the time to enrich all of our days with the latest digital music news.

  5. Congrats Bruce! Whenever someone asks how to learn more about the biz, I tell them to start with Hypebot and nothing more. If they can handle that, then come back and I can tell them more, but chances are they’ll be lead to everything else via Hypebot anyways.

  6. Hi Bruce.
Really started reading Hypebot on a daily basis not so long ago, and I’ve grown to love reading your daily content. Very insightful, interesting, and refreshing.
    Keep it up!
    Rob

  7. Congrats Hypebot! I’m an indie musician just getting started in the new music industry, have been reading Hypebot on an almost daily basis for about a year…the thoughtful analysis and up to date posts and pragmatic info from yourself and other contributors have given me some direction in a continuously changing system that can be difficult to get a handle on.
    Thanks,
    Clint
