Overheard #SXSW 2010: Ek’s Keynote, Diversity, Live Music Startups & More

  • image from rm64.comThere were few surprises but some interesting sound bite's during Spotify CEO Daniel Ek's keynote at SXSW Interactive.
    • "We're thinking about adding more social networking…but Spotify won't become a social network.  We want to work with others." (He later mention Twitter and Facebook.)
    • "Browsing by genres is not an optimal way to search for music."
    • 320,000 paid subscribers up from 250,000 just 2 months ago.
    • "This isn't about ad-supported versus subscription. It's about both coming together to get people listening to music in a legal environment."
    • No word on when Spotify will launch in the US although the rumor is now May.
