SongVote.com – A Collaborative Playlist Platform
Bringing Democracy To Playlists
SongVote.com has launched as a collaborative playlist tool to create theme-based playlists and invite friends to participate. It functions like an open election to choose the music for a party, radio show or other event that calls for some crowd-sourced jams.
After choosing a theme or event, the user picks a song and then invites friends to join via email or Facebook. Friends can then submit a song to the playlist and cast their vote on other songs, affecting the rank and order of the playlist.
Some creative uses:
Beyond choosing songs for a party, bands might use it to ask fans to choose their favorite songs or even to help write the setlist. Perhaps you want to learn what cover song your fans want you to learn for an encore or other bands they also like.
“SongVote connects people by reflecting the diversity and similarity of musical tastes of the group,” says SongVote Co-founder James Fontana “People can express their taste in music with votes, explore and affirm the votes of friends and strangers, and have some serious fun with the music they love.”
