New Jammie Thomas Verdict: $15M For 24 Songs
The third time in court for Jammie Thomas-Rasset vs. the RIAA resulted in a new fine of $62,500 for each of 24 songs grabbed via Kazaa for a total of $1.5 million. The large new fine far exceeds the $2,250 per song that this judge along others involved in similar cases have declared reasonable and suggesting that more would be considered "monstrous and shocking".
"We are again thankful to the jury for its service in this matter and that they recognized the severity of the defendant's misconduct," crowed the RIAA. "Now with three jury decisions behind us along with a clear affirmation of Ms. Thomas-Rasset’s willful liability, it is our hope that she finally accepts responsibility for her actions."
Thomas-Rasset promises to appeal.
I’m sure he doesn’t have $15m in his back pocket and where will all this money go?
I feel suing the fans will just make the music lovers resent the RIAA even more. But then again, it’s not RIAA’s job to be admired?

I agree with the “monstrous and shocking”.
It’s OK to shut down the illegal servers, but please, stop suing some unlucky fans, one in a million.
it looks more like terrorism than justice, to me.
what a waste of time and money.+
