BMG Submits EMI Bid, WMG Reportedly Next

image from www.google.com (UPDATED) Music publisher BMG Rights submitted its bid for EMI to bankers Citigroup in on Friday, according to the New York Post. Warner Music Group is expected to submit their bid this week. Other expected bidders include: Sony Corp. Vivendi's Universal Music Group and the with the private-equity firms Gores Group and Ron Perelman's MacAndrews & Forbes.


Industry insiders have speculated that the deal will close in the $2.3 – $3.3 billion range. According to Reuters,  Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and UBS have said they will help finance a deal.

  1. Bruce, before the angry comments come rushing in, I wanted to point your attention to a couple typos. The first sentence should read “to bankers Citigroup”. Also, the second sentence should use “their” instead of “there.” I know how tedious spell checking gets, and I hate seeing people ream you for minor typographical oversights. I hope this helps.

  2. and the fifth line has the interesting observation that “Universal Music Group and the with the private-equity firms”.
    I find that writing something first on Word spell checking and reading it through will help. Relentless errors somewhat undermines your journalistic credibility and makes any point difficult your are trying to make difficult to read.
