Cricket’s Muve Music Passes 200,000 Subscribers. Leads Spotify, Rhapsody In Mobile Streaming

image from www.google.com (UPDATED) Cricket Wireless announced that it's Muve Music service has passed 200,000 subscribers since its January launch. Half of that growth came in just the last 2 months.

In the month of July, Muve Music’s usage represented 70% of all tethered streams for the top 10,000 songs tracked in the mobile applications category, according to Cricket. That includes mobile streaming from Rhapsody, Napster, Spotify and MOG.

Why Muve?

Some of Muve Music's success comes because it's convenient -  Muve comes bundled with Cricket's unlimited wireless plans. But additionally, Muve Music customers are also deeply engaged with the service, according to Cricket.

On average they spend two to three hours a day listening to music on their Muve-enabled phone. In the month of July alone, 153 million song plays took place within the Muve Music service and, on average, Muve customers download 400 songs per month.  Since the initial Muve Music launch in January, customers have downloaded more than 150 million songs.

The carrier has also added its first Android device, the Samsung Vitality.  For $65 a month, customers will get unlimited talk, text, web and music, along with access to the Android app store.

The Samsung Vitality comes preloaded with a special Muve Music 4GB SanDisk flash memory card, which holds up to 3,000 songs download from Muve Music. Another 1GB set aside for other multimedia content such as photos and videos.  An 8GB Muve Music memory card will be available for purchase and holds up to 6,000 songs from the Muve Music service.

A broader portfolio of Muve Music enabled handsets are due to launch on Cricket later this year.
