MetaBlocks Blog Features Awesome Social Media Design Plus Campaign Tips
MetaBlocks provides social media apps and design for big brands including major labels. Though Hypebot carries a lot of industry news, we typically don't review specific services that are out of the reach of DIY'ers. But MetaBlocks has a great social media blog that not only showcases their work but also features wide ranging examples of major label artists use of social media.
MetaBlocks' describes themselves as a company that specifically:
"designs, develops and implements social media applications and solutions for large brands, music and entertainment companies and certain key verticals, directly or through industry partnerships."
Yet I find their blog to be a useful resource for finding out about what they've discovered and for generating new ideas that could be of use to DIY'ers and music marketers.
For example, this recent post shares what they've learned about the difference between campaigns that unlock content for individuals versus campaigns that unlock content based on crowd actions. They then discuss a particular campaign for Becoming the Archetype and why they consider it effective. It contains useful information even if you can't afford their services at the present time.
Here are some other posts that strike me as particularly useful for learning more about social media tactics:
Music Labels Using Pinterest: Overview – Part of a five post series about musicians using Pinterest with links out to a wide range of live examples.
Music Artist New Facebook Cover Gallery: 101 Examples – Extensive slideshow of Facebook Covers.
New Facebook Pages: Music Industry Examples – A collection of screen grabs illustrating Facebook Cover design trends.
Custom QR Code Examples #1 and QR Code Art Examples #2 – Lots of great examples of cool QR Code art.
Metablocks also has a New & Used Apps newsletter that offers "monthly updates featuring social media examples, ideas and 'food for thought'." I just signed up so I can't tell you what it's like but I bet it will be a worthwhile read.
