“Pervasive Drug Use” At Universal Music West Coast Office, Lawsuit Alleges
Universal Music Publishing Group's Santa Monica, CA office has been
"infiltrated with pervasive drug use where you could smell marijuana
seeping from various offices, and openly used in common areas, and
lounges," according to a lawsuit filed in LA Superior Court Tuesday. The filing names several artists and executives involved in the alleged misconduct.
The complaint, obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, was filed under whistle blower laws by an anonymous 41-year-old African American female security guard. Despite marijuana being legal for California residents with a medical card, the woman is suing Universal Music Group Publishing, her employer Universal
Protection Services, and others alleging a hostile work environment.
Lawsuit Names Names
"Artists and high profile celebrities began visiting the premises with
drugs in hand and oftentimes offering drugs to Plaintiff, which she
refused," according to the filing.Macy Gray, the entourages of Jamie Foxx and T.I., and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.
A UMPG exec allegedly told the plaintiff, "It's Adam Levine. You know from
Maroon 5 … He can do whatever he wants … If he wants to come to the
lobby and do a line of cocaine on the floor, it's ok."
Condoms Too
"UMPG employees were complaining about finding bras hanging in the
studio and people being found passed out in the showers after partying
and drug use," according to the filing. "Plaintiff found condoms plastered in
the men's bathroom while on patrol."
Back in 2011
In 2011, rhe offices of Universal's Interscope Records were allegedly used by Jimmy Henchmen, manager of label artist The Game, as a drop off and pickup point for road cases filled with kilos of cocaine and more than $1 million in cash, according to documents filed by federal prosecutors. (Details here.)
Why does it matter if the security guard is “African American”?
Report filed by White Trash Reporter Bruce Houghton…….
its california so im sure they were all within their legal boundaries (bill 1499) as far as marijauna goes.
The coke, molly & sex are givens in LA.
*looks on mistily eyed * remember when the music industry used to be a fun place to work?
I agree with Dippy C, what difference does it make if the guard is “African American” or any other race? It sounds like the writer is trying to discredit the allegations. Poor journalism….
Security guard is working at a music publishers office, how would she not expect to encounter “rock star” behavior emanating from it from time to time?
Sounds to me more like someone let her know she can come up on a nice lawsuit and make a pretty little dollar off of this and she’s following through with it.
Ask JIMMY IOVINE, The GAME and James Rosemond (aka “Jimmy Henchmen”), the manager of Interscope artist The Game about Interscope Records Office Used By Major Cocaine Operation.
For almost two years, the offices of Interscope Records have been used as a drop off and pickup point for road cases alternately filled with kilos of COCAINE and more than $1 million in cash, according to documents filed by federal prosecutors
Jimmy Iovine and Adam Levine…. These are the ones who are guilty! They should be banned… cause for them it’s all about cocaine and money not the music!
Lucian Grainge said “It’s all about Music!”
Jimmy Iovine says “It’s all about COCAINE!”
I understand Dippy C and Beskter’s concerns. I could also have left out age and gender, and in the end chose to describe the plantif exactly as the court documents did. There was no intention of offending, and I certainly have no belief that race should discredit anyone.
How could this be considered as a professional environment? Drug use does sway opinion and mind state, which would clearly explain all the drug addled music on the radio and TV these days.
