ThingLink Raises $2 Million For Ecommerce In Image Tags, Adds To Exec Team
Helsinki and New York based startup ThingLink has
closed a new $2 million financing round led by Helsinki-VC firm Inventure Oy. Other participants include angel investments from former Tumblr president John Maloney, the CEO of Fremantle Media. Thom Beers of Trimaran Capital Dean Kehler, SoundCloud CTO Eric Wahlforss, and TEKES, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.
This is ThingLink’s second
funding roud since launching in August 2010, and to brings total funding to
$3.9 million.
As part of this funding round, ThingLink also announced new appointments to
its board of directors, including Entertainment Media Ventures CEO Sandy Climan
and former Facebook media sales director Craig Coblenz. Former Meredith Publishing and Newsweek/Daily Beast executive Hillary
Billingsley was also appointed as chief revenue officer.
ThingLink adds links and tags within photos , and is proving to be a valuable tool for d.i.y. musicians and music marketers. Rich Media Tags transform within photos trigger pop-up text boxes and links to other sites into embeddable media that allows for interaction with Soundcloud, Topspin, iTunes, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Spotify, Vimeo, Wikipedia, SoundCloud and Twitter.
