IMS Engage Returns To LA Pairing Moby With David Lynch and Junkie XL With Hans Zimmer
Last year Pete Tong brought his Ibiza International Music Summit to Los Angeles as IMS Engage and it returns this year on April 16. Last year's unique approach also returns with surprising pairings of speakers. The first two pairs were announced yesterday bringing together Moby and David Lynch speaking across disciplines and Hans Zimmer with Junkie XL speaking across generations. Sounds like a mind-opening opportunity.
Last year's International Music Summit in Ibiza was covered by Hisham Dahud in multiple posts linked below. The well-established conference founded by Pete Tong returns to Ibiza for the 7th year May 21 to 23 with a full roster of artists and industry leaders around the theme "Filtering the Future."
But Pete Tong now lives in LA and last year he launched IMS Engage to explore further possibilities for enlightening on-stage dialogues.
This year's announcement reveals the more stripped-down and focused version featuring "six un-moderated conversations pairing leaders from the worlds of finance, technology, music and media to address the growing influence of electronic music."
With more to be announced, the first pairings also reveal that this should be a really interesting event especially for those taking a moment to expand their mental horizons.
Putting Moby and David Lynch together should take unlikely yet highly productive directions. While pairing Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, two film music stars at very different points in their careers, could go quite deep due to shared knowledge.
Either way this approach is really a strong choice that takes IMS Engage to another level.
The final pairings will be announced over the next few weeks.
