Ed Sheeran Breaks Spotify Streaming Records Held By Daft Punk, Eminem, Lana Del Ray

But perhaps the greatest proof its strength is the records its setting on Spotify.  Sheeran is leaving global streaming landmarks set by Daft Punk, Eminem and Lana Del Ray in the dust.

  • Spotify logoFollowing the album’s release in the UK on Monday 23rd June, ‘X’ was the most streamed album in the UK ever on Spotify in a single week, with 6,248,130 streams It beats Daft Punk’s existing record in the UK, with 6,181,583 streams with Random Access Memories.
  • Globally, ‘X’ scored the biggest ever ‘week one’ of album streams in Spotify history, with 23,792,476 streams, beating Eminem’s 22,780,154 streams of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 in November 2013.
  • ‘X’ also smashed the UK record for the most streams of an album in a single week so far in 2014, beating Lana Del Ray’s record of with 2,064,297 streams during the week of 16th June.
