The Orchard Adds 4 Indie Labels
The Orchard has added several significant indie labels ranging from Brazilian Pop to old-school Disco to their music distribution roster. Omnian Music Group, Moshi Moshi Records, Donna Summer and Gege Produções all join The Orchard, with each partnering for specific services and territories.
The label rundown:
Brooklyn-based Omnian Music Group pairs up with The Orchard for global digital distribution outside of Europe. The new group, founded by Captured Tracks’ Mike Sniper, ties together pre-existing labels Body Double, Fantasy Memory, Flying Nun, Couple Skate and Squirrel Thingand an entirely new label, Sinderlyn. “Omnian Music Group is ecstatic to team up with the Orchard,” says Sniper. “We look forward to a long term partnership to benefit all of our labels and artists.”
Moshi Moshi Records joins The Orchard’s roster from London for digital and physical distribution in North America. One of the city’s most reputable indie labels, Moshi Moshi was formed byMichael McClatchey and Stephen Bass in 1998. Artists include Summer Camp, Teleman andTom Vek.
Brazilian singer and former Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil signs his label, Gege Produções, to The Orchard for worldwide digital distribution. “With such a range of diverse content in our catalogue, we needed a distributor with expertise and reach across a global platform,” says Flora Gil, Co-Director of Gege Produções. “The Orchard provides us with top-tier services in the industry, and we’re excited to work with them to distribute our music.”
Driven by the Music LLC is run by the estate of the late multi-platinum singer Donna Summer. As part of their partnership with The Orchard, seven releases spanning the years 1980-1991 are now available digitally for the first time across North and South America. Track highlights include “The Wanderer,” “This Time I Know It’s for Real,” “Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger)” and more.
