Maximum Rocknroll Will End Print Publication After 36 Years
Punk magazine Maximum Rocknroll is shutting down its print edition later this year after 36 years and more than 400 issues. The San Francisco based publication began life as a radio show in 1977, and in 1982 added a monthly print magazine to cover the burgeoning d.i.y. and indie label punk scene.
There will be three more print issues. But after that, MRR’s record reviews will be published online alongside its weekly radio show.
“Readers can look forward to more online content, updates regarding the archive project initiated in 2016, and other yet-to-be-announced MRR projects, as well as new ways for punks around the world to get involved," according to a statement.
