Tracy Chan exits SoundCloud, joins AI music platform Splash as CEO

Veteran music tech executive Tracy Chan has exited his role as COO of SoundCloud after less than two years to become the CEO of red-hot AI music creation platform Splash.

Chan’s resume also includes Head of Music at Twitch during that platform’s pandemic-fueled peak. He is also credited with launching the “for artists” creator platforms for YouTube and Spotify.

Splash, which has integrations with Roblox and Alexa, bills itself as “the world’s most advanced music technology company” that makes music creation “simple, intuitive, fun, and accessible to everyone.”

The startup is developing AI-powered games and tools that enable music creation. These tools allow users to create, perform, and interact with fans within what it calls a “virtual, never-ending music festival.”

Amazon’s Alexa Fund was a major early investor. Splash has raised $23.2 million to date.

Bruce Houghton is the Founder and Editor of Hypebot, a Senior Advisor at Bandsintown, President of the Skyline Artists Agency, and a Berklee College Of Music professor.
