Pandora, Snapchat Partner For Song Sharing, Snap Kit Developer Launch
Pandora has teamed with Snapchat as the music streaming launch partner for Snap Kit, Snap’s new platform for developers. Pandora users will soon be able to share songs using 'song cards' that include album art on top of an animated background.
Song receivers can up swipe up to listen directly on Pandora after watching a 15 second ad. The integration expands Pandora’s social sharing to Snapchat's young user-base and in increases music discovery on both platforms.
“This will be a powerful and comprehensive social integration with music,” said Chris Phillips, Chief Product Officer, Pandora. “The Snapchat product experience and user base are primed for sharing, and our collaboration will provide a creative and compelling way to discover and enjoy music in a way that's intuitive to Snapchatters."
In the coming weeks, Pandora listeners in the U.S. will be able to share their favorite songs via song cards to a friend one-on-one, to a group of friends, or to their Story. Users will not have to connect their Snapchat and Pandora apps.
"We're always looking for more ways to bring Snapchat into the world and the world into Snapchat," said Jacob Andreou, Vice President of Product for Snap Inc. "With their vast music library, Pandora's partnership with Snap Kit will help us make it easier and more fun for Snapchatters to share the music they love."
