Dolly Parton Lands Netflix Song Anthology Series
Dolly Parton has scored a new Netflix anthology based on her music. The legendary country performer will not only serve as singer, songwriter, and co-star of the 8-episode series but will executive produce the project through her own Dixie Pixie Productions in association with Sam Haskell’s Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros Television.
“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” Parton said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”
Rumors about the project began to surface this past weekend when, during a promotional panel for Grace and Frankie, actress Lily Tomlin (who co-starred alongside both Jane Fonda and Parton in the 1980 film 9-5) was asked about a possible reunion and accidentally mentioned that the singer was quite busy with a Netflix show of her own.
No word on a premiere date just yet.
