Hip Hop Hall Of Fame To Add Hotel, Music Venue
With funding an issue, a Hip Hop Hall of Fame and Museum has seemed more an aspiration than a reality. But that hasn't stop the the founders from unveiling an ambitious plan that includes a hotel, music venue and retail space.
After two decades of development, the Official Hip Hop Hall of Fame unveiled their plans for its proposed Hip Hop Hall of Fame + Museum & Hotel Entertainment Complex in Manhattan.
The complex plan now includes the Hall of Fame, Museum, a hotel, space for retail stores and a gift shop, an arcade, television studios, a sports bar, a restaurant and a concert lounge.
Modeled on the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, advocates of the Hip Hop Hall hope that when opened, the facility will host 150+ live events, shows, concerts, and educational programs annually, however the organization is still trying to secure funding for the increasingly ambitious project.
"We are pleased that the Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum & Hotel Building project is moving forward and that it will have a major socio-economic impact on tourism, culture, education, live events, film & television production and broadcasting, and job creation in New York City," stated JT Thompson, the creator and executive producer of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame Awards TV show that aired on BET Cable Network in the 90s, and Founder of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame + Museum.
