BEWARE: The New Instagram Algorithm Is Live

image from red1023.comYou've spent months building an Instagram following and you're finally starting to see results.  Not so fast. Just as he did with Facebook, Zuckerberg controlled Instagram is now controlling the order in which your followers see all posts – and that's probably not good news for you.

________________________________________________

As it announced that it would back in March, Instagram has shifted the algorithm that orders the posts that users see. "You’ll see the moments you care about first," claims Instagram.

On average, people miss 70% of their feeds, says the photo based social network.  But "with this new ordering you won’t miss your favorite band’s video after the concert, even if it took place across the world in a different time zone. And no matter how many accounts you follow, you should see your best friend’s latest posts."

If Your Fans Like What You Post, The Changes Could (Or Could Not) Be Good

During tests, Instagram says that they found that users were liking photos more, commenting more and generally engaging with the community in a more active way.

Tell us how its working for you.

  1. Instagram must be doling out the dough to their PR firm because the general consensus from the tech blogs is approving though most of my friends and colleagues hate it.
I still am annoyed by Facebook’s algorithm’s change years ago, and it has caused me to use it a lot less. I would completely jump off of Facebook if it not because it’s the main social networking site my friends are on. But as far as Instagram, I may just close my account.
