$1 For 3 Months Of Spotify Premium Is Back, But With No Ads How Are Artists, Label Getting Paid?
We thought it was just a Christmas promotion, but 3 months of ad free Spotify Premium is back for just $1. The deal is for new subscribers only, but it is no secret that it is not that hard to game that that requirement.
Clearly this is another loss leader for Spotify; as it most likely is involuntarily for artists and labels. If Spotify is not running adds to pay artists and they are only charging 33.3 cents per month, where is the money to pay creators?
And if learning the answer to that question doesn't bother you, sign up for 3 months of Spotify Premium for $1 here.
I was actually wondering that exact question earlier this morning when I saw the ad. Does anyone have any insights?
There needs to be an incentive for people to transition from freemium to premium, and sometimes that incentive is a limited-time price offer. Discounts are a tried and true marketing strategy employed by many businesses. If Spotify is implementing this campaign again, it must be because it worked the last time. Businesses have budgets for advertising and marketing which would absorb licensing fees Spotify needs to pay rights holders. It’s a pretty standard practice.
god, you folks are idiots.
labels get huge advances on the front end. get it?
