Rdio Upgrades 30 Million Tracks To High Quality AAC 320 kps Audio
Subscription music stream Rdio has upgraded its entire 30 million song library to high quality AAC audio. Listeners now have four sound quality settings ranging from data-efficient 64 up to 192 kbps. Paid Rdio Unlimited subscribers now also have the option of listening in pristine-quality 320 kbps. Spotify offers streaming rates from 96 to 320 kps for paid subscribers in the Ogg Vorbis format.
Users can individually select audio settings for a variety of uses, whether like Wi-Fi, cellular streaming or listening to offline downloads.
Earlier this year Rdio announced a partnership with Bob Weir, a founding member of the Grateful Dead and champion of Musicians for Audio Quality Initiative. To celebrate today's audio upgrade, they are releasing an exclusive catalog of Bob Weir tracks recorded at the Tamalpais Research Institute (TRI Studios), his state of the art studio in Marin County, CA. The catalog features Weir as well as musicians like Dave Schools, Sammy Hagar and others.
