Amazon’s Head of Digital Music and Video Music Bill Carr Exits
After a 15 year stint, Bill Carr, Amazon's head of digital music and video is exiting the company. Under Carr's leadership the company entered both the digital music and streaming video markets. While still a fraction of iTunes, Amazon is the #2 seller of digital music in the U.S. Recently Carr oversaw Amazon's answer to Spotify – a catalog driven streaming music service tied to Amazon Prime memberships.
Carr's next act is not clear. An Amazon spokeswoman confirmed his exit, telling the Wall Street Journal that Carr planned to spend time with his family and travel. “He has other plans after that but not in the near term and nothing to share now.”
Carr joined Amazon in 199 as a Senior Product Manager, DVD/Video. In 2005, he became Amazon's Vice President, Digital Music & Video
