Former Exec Accused Of Embezzling $1M From Warner Music

wmgFormer Warner Music executive and Obama fundraiser Danielle Smith has been accused of embezzling more than $1 million from the music group. Smith had been an exec in the urban music department of Atlantic Records in Los Angeles.

Smith reportedly booked non-business related trips and "luxury goods" on her company credit card totalling $1.3 million between 2007 and 2011.  Lte last week, she turned herself in at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and was arraigned on charges of first-degree grand larceny, according to the New York Post. She pleaded not guilty.

During the 2012 election, Smith was a top Obama fundraising bundler attracting between $200,000 and $500,000 to the campaign. She is back in New York court on Wednesday morning.

  1. okay, technically it’s larceny. but the way smith behaved was a fairly standard way of operating at a major label not so long ago. at least she didn’t have a line item for hookers and blow.

  2. BTW when I first came into the biz back in 1995 I remember showing up at the big convention what everyone attended thinking I was there to change the world with our shinny new full domain (~/yourname ) and folks where that’s great — however your a distributor where’s you hooker room.
