Can Spotify, The Echo Nest & Amazon Save Music Education?

Funding for music education is falling in the U.S. and music tech could help deliver an alternative.  That's the goal of a new Spotify partnership with the New York City Department of Education  to host the first ever Music Education Hackathon to bring together music teachers and engineers to build software tools that support music education in NYC public schools. Amazon and The Echo Nest are also participating sponsors.

The Hackers will have 30 hours before presenting their work to a panel of judges, including teachers, administrators, technologists, and renowned people in the music and technology industries.
