YouTube Hits 1 Billion Monthly Users
Just 8 years after launching, YouTube has announced that 1 billion unique users watch videos on the site each month. And the Google owned company is monetizing those views better than ever with all of Ad Age's Top 100 brands running advertising campaigns. YouTube offered a tongue and cheek look at a what 1 billion people turing into looks like:
- Nearly one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube.
- Monthly viewership is the equivalent of roughly ten Super Bowl audiences.
- If YouTube were a country, it would be the third largest in the world after China and India.
- PSY and Madonna would have to repeat their Madison Square Garden performance in front of a packed house 200,000 more times.
YouTube says that mobile and multi-srceen viewing will power even more growth in the future.
