UK Olympic Committee Tries To Book Keith Moon
Organizers for the 2012 London Olympics reportedly approached The Who's manager to inquire if the band's drummer Keith Moon would be available to perform at the games. Here's the catch – Moon has been dead for 34 years.
Moon, who's unpredictable behavior earned him the moniker of Moon The Loon died in September 1978 at the age of 32 from an accidental overdose of prescription medicine. He was 32 at the time of his death.
The Who's manager Bill Curbishley told the Sunday Times that he'd been contacted about moon's availability.
'I emailed back saying Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to the Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old',' Curbishley told the Times. 'If they have a around table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him.' Curbishley added.
Other British bands, including the Sex Pistols have been invited to take part in the 'Symphony of Rock' which will detail the history of British popular music a part of the Games closing ceremony. The Pistols declined the honor. – via CelebrityAccess
