Musician Isaac Simons Fansources Video Using Draw Something Game

Isaac-simons-headshotDraw Something is the Pictionary-style mobile game that took OMGPOP from near failure to successful Zynga acquisition. Draw Something is also the game that msuician  Isaac Simons used to fansource drawings for a video for his single Call To Arms.

It's not the greatest video ever made but it fits the game, his fans and his claim to being an obsessive user of Draw Something. Plus, it's gained Simons attention for a music video featuring his original music.

Draw Something has been a huge hit for OMGPOP, hitting such landmarks as both top paid and top free app at the same time on iTunes. While Isaac Simons is unlikely to be as successful as OMGPOP, recently acquired for a rumored $180 million plus employee-retention payments, it's gotten him press from both tech and music sites and earned him over 10,000 video views on YouTube.

Isaac Simons – Call To Arms

Isaac Simons is a singer/songwriter who is also an actor. He says the idea for fansourcing graphics for his Call To Arms video came from Greg Baroth who manages Simon and also works at WhoSay.  Baroth stated:

"We wanted to add a little bit of creativity to what otherwise could have been just another song on YouTube."

Simons added:

"Any chance I have to interact with people on a personal level and break down that assumed artist/fan barrier thrills me…Needless to say, I spent way too much time those couple weeks glued to my iPhone. Forget texting, playing Draw Something while driving is a whole new level of dangerous."

Whether or not that's true, it does represent the humor Simons brings to his work in his role as an LA-based singer/songerwriter/actor which is also evident in the video's closing moments. He seems to be getting a positive response on YouTube. And, as a commenter on Prefix pointed out: "this guy was smart by being first."
